Captain Bob Shepton, 75 year old retired reverend and modern Bill Tilman adventurer, is the essential hub and patient master of the wild bunch expedition. Turning their awesome natural climbing skills and big wall experience from previous trips to Yosemite and Mt Asgard the four strong climbing team cruise their way up 1,000's of metres of vertical fjord granite establishing some outrageously difficult climbs whilst Captain Bob keeps a parental eye from the base camp yacht.    Exclusive Christmas present viewing.  Asgard JammingPrice: £19.95 Vertical Sailing GreenlandPrice: £19.95

Hottest Longmynd Hike

October 6, 2011 – 2:57 pm by Chris

Congratulations to Val Swingler on winning the 2011  - 50 mile Longmynd Hike. An historic occasion as she is the first lady to win the Hike outright. This years Hike also broke all records as the hottest ever 28.9 degrees, October days really shouldn't be this hot ! Val, wearing her Salomon 3 Speedcross shoes, topped the race, a big congratulations. As for the rest of us mere mortals who preferred to walk the 50 miles it was a classic although perhaps a little too hot on the Saturday afternoon. The night, my favourite time on the Hike, was cool and pleasant and even the extra long slog around the base of Black Rhadley was bearable. The star filled night sky was extraordinary and as ever the first-class friendly company of other suffering walkers added to the unique community feel that The Hike creates.
