Lectures & Events

From this page you can find information about some of the main events on the High Sports & Local calendar throughout the year. Some of these events require tickets (e.g. High Sports lectures, tickets available through our website or shop) or event entry fees (please click on the links to the individual details & entry details).

The primary aim of our High Sports Winter Lectures is to raise funds for the Youngsters in the Mountains fund & charity.

We're pleased to present the 2017/18 Winter Series an entertaining, unique, and hopefully inspirational, array of interesting speakers. In recent years each series has sold out well before a lecture date and with the line up this year we expect the same.

Long Mynd Hike

The Long Mynd Hike has become a classic Shropshire challenge from it's inauguration by the Church Stretton Scouts 1967, with 500+ competing walkers & runners over the first weekend every October. The aim to complete The Hike in 24hours. The current record from 2007 stands at 7 hours 51mins by Andy Davies.  Chris Roberts (High Sports staff) is passionate about The Hike and has completed the route 14 times.
